TOM IS ON THE ULTIMATE ADVENTURE
He went out on top with incredible joy and spirit....the happiest he'd ever been. My precious husband of 35 years rode off into the sunset on his bike and arrived in the arms of the Lord. No one lived life larger or with more enthusiasm. Every life he touched was impacted forever...in one way or another. As one friend said....you either loved him or not, but you always new where he stood, and you had to catch some of his infectious spirit. He enveloped his friends and family in his adventure of life. I always felt like I caught lightning in a fruit jar when I caught Tom McRae; I just held on to the tail of his comet and went for the ride of my life. God knew when he wove him in his mama's womb the days that were ordained for him....that today He would be calling him home. It has been my biggest blessing on earth to have been his wife. I remember the day I prayed for God to prepare for me a husband...the year was 1964...I was standing in my bedroom in Longview, Texas. That was the day I was confident God was picking out just the right one. It wasn't until 1969 he introduced him to me, and he literally swept me off my feet, and I've been swept ever since. The real joy of this time in his life was our new grandson, "Texas". Tom felt he'd been given a whole new chance at life...they bonded immediately. Tom called it a miracle. He had a wonderful relationship with his daughter, Sam, and with Sister, and he looked so forward to all our future. He was crazy about all our family and friends and felt God had brought every single one into our life for a purpose and for joy. Every venture was a reason to give it his all...a new challenge....and he created a wake of what looked like the impossible, but what always turned out to be the most amazing feat.....He always knew it was the Lord and the friends and family and staff God placed around him...he gave credit and glory to the Lord, but enjoyed getting to be used as the shovel. Through him, God has built mighty things. And if you ever saw him teach a Bible Study or say a prayer or lead someone to Christ...you knew where his heart was. He was a bold soldier with an amazing testimony...the Lord saved him and used him till his work was done. His life was packed down and running over more than he could ask or hope or think. He had no regrets and neither should we. Remember the good times and the laughter and love. Tom will leave the hugest hole... he'd like me to reword that so it's not huge, just a hole....but the Lord will fill it. Thank you to everyone who touched his life and was touched by it. And it would please me so much if you have a Tom story or Tomism to share...it's a time to rejoice. As Tom has closed every concert at Granbury Live...."If you ever have a flat day, just come on down to Granbury Live, and we'll put you right back on top!" He's on top now....and the only thing you can take to heaven with you is a friend, so if you don't know the Lord as your personal Saviour, take this time to consider the love He had for us to send His son to die for our sins, so that through belief in Him, we might have eternal life. You think this life is somethin'...just wait till you see what else is in store. God bless you .... AND... Know you are loved and treasured forever in our hearts.... Sandi |
