My first memory of Tom was when we had a garden in the back yard with the worst tomatoes you've ever seen, but Tom saw the beauty and bragged on them.

Tom was a tomato connoisseur and could spot a good tomato at a fruit stand from an 80 mile an hour glimpse...do a u-turn, buy a sack and eat 'em like apples going down the road.  He was never without his glove compartment salt shaker or a hankerin' for tomatoes.
